Home Decoration Exhibition (HOMEDEC) 2014 Part 1

Photographs are straight out of camera JPEGs shot with a Canon 5D mark III and f/2.8 L lenses. For blog purposes, I used the M file size setting instead of the native 22 MP file size.

I've been seeing HOMEDEC ads along the LDP highway but little did I expect that I would actually be invited to the opening of the exhibition as a photographer blogger. Hence here I am writing this post.

For the uninitated, HOMEDEC is Malaysia's leading renovation, redecoration and refurbishment exhibition. It fulfills homeowners' needs by providing solutions, ideas, products as well as setting trends for the interior lifestyle industry, especially for home living. It was first initiated in 2003, and is organised biannually in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kota Kinabalu. In Johor and Kuching, this exhibition is organised annually.

Part 1 of the exhibition, themed 'Design + Renovate' is open today (23 October) till Sunday  (26 October) whereas Part 2 - 'Furnish + Decorate' will be open from 30 October - 2 Novemeber. It features over 1,600 exhibition booths as well as 500 local as well as international companies.

Isuzu is sponsoring an ISUZU D-Max2.5L worth over RM100k for exhibition goers. Their booth is located right outside Hall 4.

Solartech Sales & Service Sdn. Bhd. is one of the main sponsors for HOMEDEC. They are currently marketing the only Made in Malaysia water heater brand built to international quality standards.

The exhibition highlight was the launch of "The Rooms at Design Street" where four life-sized rooms were given different themes and styles for bedroom, living and dining by their respective designers.

Dato' Vincent Lim of C.I.S network, the exhibition organiser says "We have come up with "The Rooms" to give visitors the latest and edgiest in interior design. By making high quality interior design more accessible, this can shake up the industry and give designers their due recognition."

There were heaps of media at this event - Bernama, Astro Awani, The Star, you name it.

Bill Keith welcomes the media to his "Tropical Indochine" themed abode.

Bill Keith aims to create on oasis for the weary worker to rejuvenate through the use of tree barks, leaves and organic textures.

His creation feels like an upgraded kampung house.

His designe incorporates many brightly coloured furnishings and sculptures.

This is the only exhibit with a split level room on the upper floor.

During the press conference, Ooi Boon Seong said that his "Industrial Chic" design will appeal to those who like to incorporate a dance or work studio, and even photographers based on the display of vintage cameras at the dining area.

This exhibition has certainly been an eye opener for me, and I acknowledge its important as a one-stop exhibition for homeowners across Malaysia. I'm sure this weekend, it will be packed to the brim with visitors!

Cheers.
