dang! end of the semester

Hi all,

Its been some time since I’ve posted any news about myself, so here it goes.

Today was the last day uni for 2nd year archi. I’ve worked hard, and produced a very good design and presentation. I’ve been waiting for this day for 2 weeks, because I’m can’t wait for uni to end.

But now since uni has ended, what more is there to look forward to? I was hoping to celebrate with my course mates, which is a bit hard since I don’t know any of them personally. So its basically been a depressing night, watching anime instead of resting (which I know that I really need).

Tomorrow, is the day of EYES (Everyones Year End Show). Basically what we do is that there’ll be food and drink (alcohol included) and you go around looking at the work which the other architecture students have been doing. I on the other hand, have some issues about arrogance. Its like I always seem to say ‘Hey, you’re work’s good”while deep inside me something says – ‘I told you, Your’re the BEST’. How hypocritical of me to praise myself, when I know that I’ve got so much further to go! Oh God forgive me!

Oh yes, there’s the holidays to look forward to. I’ll be moving to a new place, a Christian Brothers’ Accommodation, where the rent is much cheaper over there, though it takes almost 2x the time to get to uni.

I’ll be flying back to KL on 9 Dec, but I’m not going back straight to Kuching. I’ll be stopping by Singapore to help out with Singapore Youth for Christ (SYFC). I’ve heard so much about them, but this time, I feel inspired to really do something in the youth missions field instead of sitting back crossing my arms. I believe that God has lead me there for a purpose, and I’ll be ready to fulfill His purpose on this trip.

I think that’s about all I’ve gotta share. Good luck in exams, ciao!

bathroom

this is a bathroom project in the MYERS store, did it for archi design. was exploring the link between spectatorhip and privacy, true the use of opaque, semi transparent and transparent surfaces. it has 4 toilets, 2 showerrooms, 1 disabled cubicles, one urinal, 2 sinks.

Hillsong

Hi guys….

Tonight was a super awesome night for hillsong united. Me n a couple of frens arrived late at church, where we were confronted with the hall being ¾ full at City Life Church, an hour’s drive from Melbourne. We waited for half an hour, and then the action started. Most of their songs were from their newest album – United We Stand. If u guys haven’t listened to it…I recommended it highly. I was somewhere at the back rows, but the atmosphere was really awesome nonetheless. Everyone was singing at the top of their voices, praising God. I was really amazed at how good these guys were LIVE. I mean, their tracks on their CD was pretty good, but when u see the lighting effects, and hundreds of people jumping around you, with the speakers in front blasting away…that’s So cool.
In the middle of the session, their Youth Pastor, Mr. Dooley I think gave a compelling sermon about what United stood for. It was about sacrifice, and a bunch of ordinary people having ONE purpose – to serve the One and True God, Jesus Christ. And here’s an interesting quote – what’s the use of God’s armor if there’s no one willing to wear it, and stand for Jesus Christ?
The session ended with some of their lively songs, and then , because of the encore, Joel Houston and his 2 co-singers (this is the REAL United band, not their representatives mind you!) were jumping and screaming all around the stage. It was interesting to note that Joel was trying to rock the crowd just by using his acoustic guitar, but he did it anyway. The drummer (can’t remember his name though) was super adept, I learnt a few more cool beats by observing him.
BUT no matter how good the United band is, they are just an instrument to praise God. The object of our praise, whether in church, or any Christian rock concert, and in our daily lives, is our Lord Jesus. AMEN!

Yours in Christ,
Brandon

a brand new year

i know i'm a bit behind here...but anyway here it goes....

its the 3rd week of the semester..and times are getting a wee bit tougher ( it happens to all anyway, rite?:p) i'm taking 4 subjects, namely - design, construction, asian arch, and digital design. the timetable is not that tough (about 16 hrs p week) and still bearable for now.

intersting stuff? well, only one i can think of now. i brought a pressure cooker over to stew lots (about 1 kg +) of meat each time. that s because i've gotten even lazier this year....so i cook the meat in bulk, which should last for the week, and eat more fruits (cos i'm lazy to cook veg too). sometimes i dump in the veg with the meat into the ricepot..and voila...u hav rice+meat+ veg in 30 mins..a 'wholesome' meal!

today i tried cooking lamb..and last week some chick kurma....
the ingredients are:
1 onion
1 whole garlic
3 tbsp kicap manis
3 tbsp oyster sauce
1kg lambleg
some pepper for taste

yup, jus stuff everything into the pot, and stew for 1 hour (cos i like really tender meat)

yah..thats about all for now. prob i'll post some more stuff ..if i hav the time
