Chapelli's Restaurant, South Yarra

Dear blog readers, welcome to my first blog post for the year 2010 ;). Hope you've had a blast for your new year's eve celebrations.

Chapelli's Restaurant, South Yarra
571 Chapel St, South Yarra 3141

Visited Chapelli's Restaurant on Toorak Road on Wednesday evening for some supper from a friend's recommendation. Although the waiter repeated our order several times until he finally got it right, let's see how the food here fares:

Special spaghetti
Tuna, capsicum, green pepper and olives in tomato sauce. At approx $15 for a main, its pretty average.

Seafood risotto
Aborio rice cooked with shrimp, calamari, and mussels. The customer thought the taste was a bit bland, but I reckon its not too bad. $15.90

Lasagne
A classic lasagne layered with meat and topped with cheese sauce. $13.90. We've tasted better ones elsewhere.

Spaghetti Marinara
A fine selection of seafood in a fresh tomato and garlic sauce. The seafood is pretty fresh, and it tastes quite good. $17.90

Chicken Parmigiana
Crumbed breast of chicken topped with napoli sauce and melted cheese. $18.90. Okay-ish. Fries are a little bland. For better choices, perhaps try the Leveson.

The salad that goes with the chicken parma.

Gnocchi Ragu
Potato dumplings in a rich beef goulash. $14.90. The gnocchi could be a little more chewy, though the beef is adequately tender.

In conclusion, the food here is pretty standard. I don't mind recommending it for a late night snack, but not if we have to drive all the way to South Yarra.

If you have liked my posts so far, I'd appreciate if you could leave a note of encouragement on my blog comments' section (which is different from the facebook one). Thanks !
