Visit to Wodonga Part 3

These pictures are from the last part of my trip to Wodonga.

We stopped by a lavender farm in Beachworth.

As expected, this shop sells a whole lot of lavender products, ranging from creams to insect repellants.

I didn't dare to go too near the lavenders, lest I get stung by a bee.

On the way back, we stopped by a lake for a short lunch break.

In order to savour Australia's best gourmet foods (cheese & wine), it helps to go straight to the source itself, which is in a little town named Milawa.

Attached to the rear of the Cheese Factory in Milawa is the Muse gallery, which is currently featuring heaps of sculptures made from scrap metal.

A group of cockatoos.

I think this is a life-size shark.

An echidna - A burrowing monotreme mammal covered with spines and having a long snout and claws for hunting ants and termites; native to Australia

After getting lost for 20 minutes, we finally managed to make our way to the Brown Brothers winery in Milawa.

The tasting counter was packed with tourists and locals alike.

I bought 2 bottles of delightful dessert wine:

2007 Dolcetto & Syarah

This wine is vibrant magenta in colour and the nose has fresh, lifted aromas of red berries, blackcurrant, red jubes and hints of spice. The palate has flavours of ripe summer berries and a natural grape sweetness that is balanced by the frizzante mouth feel providing a refreshing and vibrant finish.

2007 Orange Muscat and Flora

Orange Muscat and Flora is a blend unique to Brown Brothers. Orange Muscat forms the backbone of the blend providing aromas of orange blossom to the nose and a fresh citrus hint to the palate, while the Flora contributes colour, texture and mouth-feel to the palate. The current release displays a vibrant yellow colour and a lifted nose showing aromas of citrus blossom and musk. The palate is fresh and tangy with a zesty long clean finish

They have a restaurant (aka. the epicurean center) which serves 2 mains and a wine to match for $40.

Because we were busy finding our way to the Brown Brothers winery, we had to settle for a late lunch at KFC.

Now, I can finally boast that I've been to Laksa King (for the first time in 3 years) - yes, I know I'm so deprived -_-

It is a big bowl of laksa with all sorts of stuff in it - egg plant, prawns, fish cake, shredded chicken, bean sprouts, and fried tofu.

I like the curry soup - its creamy and not too spicy, well worth a try.
